Remembering What Again?

It's that weekend again we all take the time to pause, ... and remember what exactly again? In light of this holiday, maybe you'll also appreciate the "music video" at www.rocketboom.com. Well, it's off to Boston for me for the mini-Wits-reunion-thing that's finally happening.

Danny is definitely not Chloe

I had a dream a couple of weeks ago where, during delivery, we were faced with the arrival of a little girl and not the little boy we've been told to expect. I remember feeling rather strange about this. Over the course of the last few months we have been developing quite a strong tie with little Danny. To find out that Danny is instead a Chloe would be rather devastating news. I'm glad to report, hoever, that after yet another ultrasound today, Danny is most definitely not Chloe.

A Baby's View

The baby room is mostly done now. This is the view Danny will get when looking up at the world from his crib.

Irregular Heartbeat

Inna just got back from a visit to her OB with the news that little Danny was suffering from an irregular heartbeat. A little alarmed, she reassured me with the fact that the follow-up ultrasound showed that everything was just fine and that these things, although a concern, are nothing to be worried about. Phew! Other things we learned:

  • Little Danny has a head full of hair.

  • He's got chubby cheeks.

  • At almost 35 weeks, he's the size of a 36 week baby.

  • He's already weighing in at six pounds.

  • The ultrasound technician thought his anatomy was exquisite.

I'm due to head off to Boston at the end of the month. I wonder if little Danny Boy is going to influence these plans in any way? They say that delivering after 37 weeks is considered full-term. So really, he can arrive any time after May 30th. And with the Braxton Hicks contractions already underway, who knows? Maybe we should pack the hospital bag?

Cleaning

Inna during nesting. What you don't see is that everything upstairs has been moved out (a lot of it stored right besides me as I'm taking this picture) so that we can get our carpets cleaned. Definitely the *best* part of the whole nine months.

Web Tools

Ever need to rip a web site and found the IE/Firefox offline browsing support left wanting? HTTrack Website Copier is a handy little tool that allows you to do just this. Whether it's for reading a site on the train or archiving your very own site - it seems to do a very good job of bringing down all the necessary pages.

What about if you're stuck behind MS Proxy 2.0 that requires NTLM Authorization and cannot run certain web tools (oh, let's say, something like HTTrack Website Copier). No worries, NTLM Authorization Proxy Server to the rescue.

Baby Shower Photos

Trying something new with the photo album. Since we're migrating everything off of the server at home we've had to find a new home for this too. MyPhotoAlbum.com seems to do a good enough job. Though I'm interested if there are any better services out there?

Anyway, enough of that, here are the pictures.

We're Pregnant!

Some people take offense when I say that we (as a couple) are pregnant. No, only women can be pregnant! Men play a very minor role in the entire process I'm told. Nevertheless, here we are at almost eight months.

We're Moving

We're moving and undergoing a name change in the process to Mac's Manor. We recently entered the world of broadband telephony through Vonage and having received a neat broadband router, there seems little need for this Linux server that has been our trusty gateway router for quite a few years now. The most recent entries have been migrated along with their comments (sorry about the comment timestamps) and in time I hope to migrate the entire blog.

Springing

I'm sure I'm going to say something like this every year around this time. What a beautiful time of the year it is. The blooms and the green and the wonderful warmth. The wafts from an afternoon barbecue. Relaxing in a garden chair and listening to the sounds of birds chirping away. Taking a moment to reflect on how good things are.

Baby Shower

Going against tradition, Inna and I hosted our very own baby-shower yesterday as a husbands & wives barbecue party to honor little Daniel who should be arriving in seven or so more weeks. It turned out to be a real hit, thanks especially to Leane who went to the effort of planning some fun surprise activities and bringing along baby pictures of all the party guests. How she managed such a feat is still beyond me. Don't believe anything she might say about me and a certain dancing picture - that is all photoshop magic.
