Back in the Pool
Danny & Inna

For some reason we couldn't quite understand, Danny has been afraid of the pool this past year limiting himself to the step and making sure he was far enough out of reach that we couldn't yank him into the water with us. This of course hampered our attempts to get him to learn to swim. Well gratefully yesterday he got over those fears and has been loving his ability to noodle swim his way around the pool. Hopefully we'll have him swimming unaided by the time Labor Day rolls around.

For a timid swimmer, You may want to try a Puddle Jumper life vest.
The problem with many pool floats is that they can give a false sense of security and then slip away from a non-swimmer with drastic results. I've had two rescues this summer and both were children who lost their pool noodles.
The Puddle Jumpers are a great mix of function and safety. They are designed to hold a child by the upper arm (like water wings) and the float around the chest will float a child on his/her back. Unlike many other flotation devices, it won't deflate, it won't slip off (water wings around a child's wrists will hold them under water) and it won't accidentally get away from a child and leave him/her in over their head.
They are US Coast Guard approved and they're geared to be kid friendly while being fairly inexpensive and, most importantly, SAFE.
I know you don't know me from Adam, but I've seen too many scary things not to at least mention it. They truly are great!
