Ft. Lauderdale

I was given the good fortune of being asked to attend the Trader's Expo which took place in Fort Lauderdale last week. A big deal for me since this was to be my very first business trip. So now I'm on the board, but I've got a long way to go before catching up with the likes of Charlie and William. While the show itself had us standing up for six hours talking about RealTick to traders and wanna-be-traders, the best part was definitely the after-show chillout on the beach. Fantastic warm weather and water and expensed meals. And people complain that business travel is hard? Innochka who was stressed by the fact she was going to have to deal with everything at home by herself realized that it was no more difficult than when I'm home. While trying to imply that I'm a lazy SOB, I chose instead to interpret that comment as permission to go on more trips :)

I remember back in the good ol' days (1989) when I was sent to Orlando to install a Practical Peripherals 2400 baud modem for the Orlando office of a long distance company, since bankrupt (wonder why?). The work part was easy and the relaxing afternoon afterwards was quite nice. The best part, however, was seeing the space shuttle launch from my motel as I got into a cab back to the airport. Sometimes travel for work can be excellent.

Now I'm jealous! I would love to see the Space Shuttle take off. Actually, I'd love to just see the Space Shuttle.
