Back at the Grindstone
I can't believe I'm saying this, but boy is it good to be back at work! Life is starting to feel more like normal, day by day.

The end of our Cancun vacation is fast approaching. Time certainly speeds up when you are in paradise. We've witnessed the ruins at Chichen Itza (hot and humid have been redefined) as well as wondered around Isla Mujeres but the highlight I think has been simply lounging back and taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean in front of the hotel. Not really looking forward to our flight back tomorrow.
Enjoying the sun. Enjoying the beach. Enjoying the drinks. Enjoying the food. Pretty much enjoying Cancun.
Inna had her ultrasound today and I was able to tag along for the show. A very touching experience with the good news that we are expecting little Daniel Mark McNally. So for all of you that prognosticated, predicted, foresaw, felt or even thumb-sucked that we would have a boy (there were only two people that thought it would be a girl), well done!
It's official! No more left vocal cord paralysis for me. Saw the ENT this morning. He seemed quite surprised at the return of my voice and after the hard-to-swallow laryngoscopy he confirmed that life had returned to the once lifeless vocal cord.
Leon, the good chap that he is, sent me a link to a site that I think is going to change my life. Thanks to www.mnetondemand.com, I can finally watch South African cricket and rugby live. Wish I had known about this a couple of months ago.
Although Inna has been enjoying feeling the baby move for a few weeks now, I got my first thrill on Valentine's Day of all days.
Apparently one needs to pay to take pictures of Millenium Park's Bean. I've joined the thousands who believe this to be a preposterous idea. So, doing my little bit, here's Cloud Gate while we were there in December.
The speech therapy sessions came to an end today with the very good news (as far as the therapist is concerned) that my left vocal chord is no longer paralyzed and that my speech has almost returned to normal. I see the ENT next week and can't wait to see a vibrating left vocal chord
Over the past few months, my family have come out to Chicago to help us through the recovery process. You can see pictures of their visits here.
You know things are bad when the highlight of the week is a blood test. Well, I did enjoy getting out of the house today for just that (Procrit anyone?). What's more, the doctor gave me the thumbs up to return to work at the end of the month - Wooohooo! Here's hoping they will take me back after all this time.
Found out today that a student pilot landed N68714 in a field last week. The good news is that the pilot is fine. I just read the NTSB report and the plane isn't doing so well. It would seem that an electrical failure stopped the radios from working and led her to believe the fuel tanks were empty.
